where everyBODY Blooms

Blooming Accesiblity

At Russell Flower Farm, we believe that gardening should be a joy that’s accessible to everyBODY—and we’re proud to be taking real steps to make that a reality.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Wilkes Economic Development Corporation for their small business grant, which funded the cement pad completed in April 2025, and to the Central Carolina Dahlia Society for their generous support—thanks to them, we’re building two custom, wheelchair-accessible raised garden beds, expected to be completed by August 2025!

Raised Beds Accessibility Idea at Russell Flower Farm

These ADA-compliant beds will be approximately 30 inches tall and designed for individuals with limited mobility, creating a more inclusive and comfortable gardening experience for all. Construction is underway with Doug Smithey on a concrete pad to ensure full accessibility across our farm.

While this project is still a work in progress, it’s a major step toward making our farm a space where everyone can grow, connect, and bloom. Stay tuned for our ribbon-cutting celebration—and in the meantime, you can support our efforts by purchasing one of our “Where Everyone Blooms” shirts through our fundraiser.
