where everyBODY Blooms

Blooming Accesiblity

At Russell Flower Farm, we believe that gardening should be a joy that’s accessible to everyBODY—and we’re proud to be taking real steps to make that a reality.

Thanks to the generous support of the Central Carolina Dahlia Society and a small business grant from the Wilkes Economic Development Corporation, we’re building two custom, wheelchair-accessible raised garden beds!

Raised Beds Accessibility Idea at Russell Flower Farm

These ADA-compliant beds will be approximately 30 inches tall and designed for individuals with limited mobility, creating a more inclusive and comfortable gardening experience for all. Construction is underway with Doug Smithey on a concrete pad to ensure full accessibility across our farm.

While this project is still a work in progress, it’s a major step toward making our farm a space where everyone can grow, connect, and bloom. Stay tuned for our ribbon-cutting celebration—and in the meantime, you can support our efforts by purchasing one of our “Where Everyone Blooms” shirts through our fundraiser.
